Benjamin Ntumba is a national of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and holds a master’s degree in biodiversity management and sustainable forest management from the University of Kisangani (UNIKIS). He has worked in various provinces of the DRC : Tshopo (Bafwasende, Banalia, Basoko), Ituri (Mambasa), Bas-Uelé (Buta, Aketi), Mongala (Lisala, Bumba, Bongandanga) and in the landscape of the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve (YBR) for several projects linked to the management and preservation of forest resources with Forest Ressources Management (FRM), the provincial government of Ituri, Antwerp Zoo Foundation (AZF), TropenBos, Botanic Garden Meise and Enabel (Belgian Development Agency). His areas of interest are forest resource management, agroforestry, community forestry, participatory mapping, working with local communities, Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

SOWILD is a grassroots association set up to support communities and indigenous peoples in the sustainable management of wildlife and forest resources on which they depend for their livelihoods, therefore contributing to conservation goals and the maintenance of traditional ways of life.
