Jonas Kambale Nyumu is a researcher interested in the socioeconomic aspects of bushmeat and wildlife conservation. He has worked as consultant for CIFOR for since 2016 on reducing the hunting pressure on wildlife in the Yangambi landscape, DRC. After the completion of his master’s degree at the University of Kisangani (UNIKIS) in Wildlife management, in 2016, Jonas joined a capacity building program called the MENTOR-POP (Progress on Pangolins) Fellowship Program, organized in Cameroon by the US Fish and Wildlife Service in collaboration with the Zoological Society of London in Yaounde (Cameroon). During this time, Jonas conducted pangolin ecological and socioeconomic research across protected areas in Cameroon. Jonas is passionate about medium and large mammals, pangolins in particular and bushmeat issues in tropical forests. Jonas is a member of the IUCN SSC Pangolins Specialists Group.
