Jonas Muhindo is a national of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and he holds a Bachelor Degree in Ecology and Wildlife Conservation from the University of Kisangani (UNIKIS) since 2009. He has worked in Lomami National Park, Rubi Télé Reserve and in the Tshopo Province for several projects related to wildlife management and conservation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN) and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR). His fields of interest relate to community-based development, empowerment and capacity building at the community level, environmental education and implementation of social safeguards.

SOWILD is a grassroots association set up to support communities and indigenous peoples in the sustainable management of wildlife and forest resources on which they depend for their livelihoods, therefore contributing to conservation goals and the maintenance of traditional ways of life.
